The BOBcasts: Celebrations of Life for Robert Patrick Playwright

A series of hybrid online & in-person  COL's produced in conjunction with others to bring more of the work and background of RPP to life. 

After the loss of Robert Patrick Playwright on April 23, 2023, it took some time to figure out the right way to form a tribute. Several of Robert's favorite LA cabaret's (Planet Queer and Was Ist Das?) created beautiful live events in his honor at their venues, but it left out several of his friends and fans across the world and doing yet another didn't seem right. Upon recognition that Robert's 86th birthday took place on a Wednesday (Ellen Stewart once asked Robert to put a show "up by Wednesday" and it became a catch phrase), Jenn came up with the idea to co-produce a hybrid online and in-person Celebration of Life at La MaMa ETC in New York with the help of the global art & technology community CultureHub, that produced the acclaimed series of Robert Patrick plays known as Hi-Fi | Wi-Fi | Sci-Fi in 2017.​

The result was a splendid 10-hour event that combined in-person tributes, pre-recorded material, and live-zoom room interviews with beloveds from all over. The event was a heart-warming and vastly informative experience for all involved, which also proved the endearing timelessness of Robert's work and how even 10-hrs was simply not enough to truly celebrate a man of many talents and vision. The BOBcast COL's will be an ongoing effort, with new elements added as feels right. A second COL was made with holiday themed material and guest who were unable to attend the original event, and thus the BOBcast Holiday Special was made as all pre-recorded material released on Wednesday, December 27 (keeping in line with the "up by Wednesday" motto and birthday number).
