The Stuart Timmons West Hollywood LGBTQ History Tour

Jason Jenn co-conceived, produced, and directed the beloved author's special live event from 2015-2017 and the special 13-episode web series in 2021 for the One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival.

The Stuart Timmons West Hollywood LGTBQ History Tour was performed as part of the One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival from 2015-2017. In 2021, a special online film version was created to make it accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime!

But just what is Stuart’s WeHo Tour?

Stuart’s WeHo Tour is a fun-filled, fantastically informative, and FREE experience revealing the sensational, sordid, and surprising LGBTQ History of the City of West Hollywood! Think you know WeHo? Not quite like this!

Written by acclaimed author/historian Stuart Timmons (The Trouble With Harry Hay, GAY L.A.) and produced/directed by Jason Jenn, the tour first dazzled audiences in 2015 as part of the 30th Anniversary of the City of West Hollywood’s incorporation in November 1984. Stuart’s WeHo Tour was in the process of being written as the final in a trio of walking tours (DTLA and SilverLake are the other two) when Stuart Timmons had a stroke in 2008. It remained incomplete until a grant allowed Timmons and a small team to help finish his research, bringing it to a rousing completion as both a self-guided walking tour and a special in-person performance event. It returned for two more invigorating performance art events in 2016 and 2017 to celebrate Stuart’s legacy.

While the 2021 online version of the tour allows more people to experience Stuart’s Tour virtually, nothing is quite the same than the in person happening. Even documentation of the live event is not the same, but to watch documentation from the tour’s origins and how Stuart himself got to experience the tour, see below.
